Imam Mohamad Jebara, a young scholar of the nations capital, and founder of Cordova Academy, recites a few verses from surah Al-Baqarah in the Qira'ah of Imam Hafs Al-Kufi. Mohamad Jebara memorized the Qur`ān in his youth. By the age of 18, he had earned certification, called Ijāzah in Arabic meaning 'permission to teach', with chains of transmission linking him to the Prophet Muhammad -upon whom are the Blessings of the Almighty- in three narrations of the Qur`ān; Hafs, Warsh and Qālūn. When the Eminent Scholar of Qirā`āt, Shaikh Abdulrashid Ali Sufi, was in Ottawa for a month, Mohamad seized the opportunity and recited to him on a daily basis. In 2005, Mohamad traveled to Damascus, where he recited at the feet of the Eminent Scholar Imām Abdur-Razzāq Al-Halabi. Along with possessing one of the shortest chains of transmission in Qur`an, Imām Al-Halabi, is the greatest and supreme living authority on the Hanafi school of thought in the world. Mohamad also recited to Dr. Abdul-Salam Al-Hirasi, professor at the University of Fez, Morocco, when he was on a visit to Toronto. Dr. Al-Hirasi confirmed Mohamad's abilities and qualifications in the narration of Imam Warsh -May God be pleased with them- In addition, Mohamad studied and memorized several important Classical Arabic works including Al-Ajurrūmīyyāh, a prose on Classical Arabic Grammar rules. Mohamad also studied and memorized Ash-Shātibiyyah and Al-Jazariyyah, both proses on Tajwid rules. Along with many other Classic works. Mohamad completed the pilgrimage to Mecca when he was 21. When in Medina, Mohamad attended the study circles of Shaikh Abu Bakr Ibnu Jabir Al-Jazairi, where he met the distinguished scholar.
